"content": "This series adds an operation callback which gets called every time the\nlibrary wants to call eventfd_write(). This eventfd_write() call could\nresult in a system call, which could potentially block the PMD thread.\n\nThe callback function can decide whether it's ok to handle the\neventfd_write() now or have the newly introduced function,\nrte_vhost_notify_guest(), called at a later time.\n\nThis can be used by 3rd party applications, like OVS, to avoid system\ncalls being called as part of the PMD threads.\n\nv3:\n - Changed ABI compatibility code to no longer use a boolean\n to avoid having to disable specific GCC warnings.\n - Moved the fd check fix to a separate patch (patch 3/4).\n - Fixed some coding style issues.\n\nv2: - Used vhost_virtqueue->index to find index for operation.\n - Aligned function name to VDUSE RFC patchset.\n - Added error and offload statistics counter.\n - Mark new API as experimental.\n - Change the virtual queue spin lock to read/write spin lock.\n - Made shared counters atomic.\n - Add versioned rte_vhost_driver_callback_register() for\n ABI compliance.\n\nEelco Chaudron (4):\n vhost: change vhost_virtqueue access lock to a read/write one\n vhost: make the guest_notifications statistic counter atomic\n vhost: fix invalid call FD handling\n vhost: add device op to offload the interrupt kick\n\n\n lib/eal/include/generic/rte_rwlock.h | 17 +++++\n lib/vhost/meson.build | 2 +\n lib/vhost/rte_vhost.h | 23 ++++++-\n lib/vhost/socket.c | 63 +++++++++++++++++--\n lib/vhost/version.map | 9 +++\n lib/vhost/vhost.c | 92 +++++++++++++++++++++-------\n lib/vhost/vhost.h | 69 ++++++++++++++-------\n lib/vhost/vhost_user.c | 14 ++---\n lib/vhost/virtio_net.c | 90 +++++++++++++--------------\n 9 files changed, 278 insertions(+), 101 deletions(-)"
